Unix Resources on the Net

WHY?

The reason I started this website was to consolidate various Linux Resources around the net, but the more I became involved with Linux, the more I realized that it is a disjointed collage of information that needs to be pieced together bit by bit, until you have a whole. The closest thing to a GOOD document about Linux is the Trinity OS written by David Alexander Ranch.

The Problem with HOW-TO's

The problem with HOW-TO's, especially Mini-How-To's, is that they don't:
  • Provide Enough In-Depth Information
  • Give Good Enough Detail For a Particular Subject
  • Add Way To Much Extra Head-Ache Steps That Are Not Always Necessary
  • My goal, with these simple documents, is to provide an easy to understand, easy to learn description of the subject, and easy to use instructions for implementing the subject within a Linux content (usually a Redhat Build), and to provide as much detail, with as little amount of wasted space as possible.

    For Smart, Efficient Learning

  • Kernel Upgrade Instructions for Redhat I had a little help from a colleague on this one
  • Lilo Instructions, and Dual-Booting
  • You might want to get these 2 scripts WIN & NOWIN to easily use SAMBA to connect to a shared windoze directory.
  • You might want to use DATE_HTML to change the current date in a webpage...Information.
And to think, a few hours ago, I had no clue about scripting....
